I’m concerned with the emotional effects of watching Bambi multiple times. We’re in uncharted territory there — the previous three generations all watched Bambi once, under ritual circumstances (while very young but not too young, in a darkened and hushed theater with lots of other kids and parents, with sugary drinks and buttery foods shared between them and careful supervision by an adult). Repeating the spectacle — what effect will that have? I have no choice, because Bambi’s nearly the perfect movie so I have to let her watch it. I mean, seriously. It’s a baby deer hanging out with a bunch of fucking bunny rabbits! What kind of monster wouldn’t let her watch that I ask of you
