My relationship to comics seems to be changing. I gradually realized that the most fun I get out of them these days is drawing them, writing them, and selling them. In that order. I still like to read them, a lot, but it’s #4 on the list now.
No big deal, but I noticed. Used to be that reading comics as quickly as possible was my primary goal in waking up every day. Now I approach each comic asking, “So what can you do for me?” Entertain me, show me how to draw something difficult, give me story ideas that I can “borrow.” But I don’t seek comics for escape. I seek comics for professional guidance now.
